Game files
hi, I'm not sure if I'm posting in the correct section but here's my question.
I'm getting a laptop shortly and intend to install all guild wars games on this. Do I need to copy over any save files or any other files or are they stored on the servers?
Thanks

You WILL need to copy over any templates you have saved. If you copy over the entirety of your GW folder (usually C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\) then you will have everything you need. Run GW on your laptop and it will ask where the install files are - so tell it
IF (as expected) the laptop is running Vista, the templates will have to go in C:\Users\yourusernamehere\Documents\Guild Wars\Templates. This is also where your screenshots will end up.

I've mentioned in previous threads that copying the .dat file is a good idea. While some people may think it is easier to -image, the reality is that not everyone has unlimited downloads at decent speeds. Put the .dat file on a DVD and install GW on your laptop. When the install is done, replace the .dat file it creates with the one you put on the DVD. It will be a 3.5g file or there about so the copying process will take a little.
Doing this will save you much time, download quota, and stress. And you won't have to look at your characters in starter armour

I agree with the Aussie.
Personally I'd use a memory stick - you'll probably need a 8GB one to be safe but they're pretty damn cheap now.

There isn't really any need to "install" GW on the laptop. Just copy the entire Guild Wars folder to the laptop (put it in Program Files just to keep it simple) and run gw.exe. It will set itself up.
